Archbishop David Oliver Kling has been a hospice chaplain in Northeast Ohio since 2013. He graduated from Wright State University with a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.A. in Religious Studies and from Methodist Theological School in Ohio with a Master of Divinity specializing in Black Church and African Diaspora Studies followed by a year-long chaplain residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV prior to working in Hospice. He has served as a Director of Religious Education and Consulting Minister at two different Unitarian Universalist congregations. He has been a bishop in apostolic succession since 2004 and host of Sacramental Whine: An Independent Sacramental Movement Podcast since 2018. In addition to his work in hospice, Archbishop Oliver teaches medical ethics at a college in Canton, Ohio, and serves as a chaplain (lieutenant) in the Ohio Navy.
